What just might be the biggest problem for the Artificial Intelligence industry today is that the everyday consumer doesn’t understand its potential utility in his or her life. In connection with this, most people who don’t work in the space don’t really get what AI development teams do.
Koios is one company that’s looking to improve both of these areas and more. Precisely, their key goal is to provide an easy-to-use marketplace on which any consumer, from those with little AI knowledge to those with expert AI knowledge, can purchase AI-related solutions for their personal usage.
The CEO, Marcus Bowles, says that the Koios project grew out of the frustration that the team noticed among Machine Learning developers related to how difficult it is to find simple tools and a simple way to publish what they do. In other words, until recently, Machine Learning work has been far from user friendly.
From here, the Koios team took this overarching problem and generated a list of questions that they hoped would help them create a solution for it:
1. How can we make this technology universally accessible?
2. How can we make Machine Learning easier and cheaper to build?
3. How can we connect developers to consumers?
4. Wouldn’t it be cool if a user could simply pick various ML functions and put them together like building blocks for their own purposes?
Once these questions were connected to the problem that they were trying to solve, the Koios team began building its platform, which is now popularly known as the “Koios Ecosystem.”
The Tech
In the Koios Ecosystem, the company plans to offer three distinct solutions, which are called: NeuralNET, AI Lab, and Titan Protocol. Once their basic usages are understood, it may be shown that in the case of Koios, the entire ecosystem is dependent on AI.
It’s logical to begin with NeuralNET as this is the marketplace itself. In further pieces, we’ll examine what Koios is doing with Ai Lab and Titan Protocol.
The Koios team describes Neural Net as a library of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning content, which can be purchased by everyday users from all different walks of life.
Every piece of content is verified by the Koios team to reportedly make sure that it keeps to industry standards, though at this time, there’s a question as to what this actually means. Whatever the specific process involves, it is clear that no content can be posted until it’s been reviewed in this way.
The Neural Net is also the area of the ecosystem that directly uses the Blockchain in that it stores all of its data offerings in a decentralized fashion. Even though the Blockchain plays this important role, the most important part of the Neural Net is actually that Koios is designing it to be as easy to use as possible, which again, they hope will spread its adoption beyond the AI expert, to the AI novice.
Looking Forward
In the words of the Koios CEO, the entire project is leading towards the goal of doing everything it can in order to increase the efficiency of all AI projects so that it takes less time and effort for them to “go live.”
In working towards this goal, the team hopes that its usage of the Blockchain will serve as the centerpiece in achieving it. On top of this, since the Koios team seemingly includes people who used to work at Google, Amazon, and nVidia, it does appear logicla that their histories will work in favor of the project being successful.
Even so, like many ambitious projects that are platforms aiming to be widely adopted across diverse groups, everything depends on the education of the average person as to why he or she needs Koios. This effectively means that it all hinges on the successful connection of the development community with a large enough group of interested consumers.
In the words of one agency that ran a SWOT analysis on the entire Koios offering, “Koios is creating an environment for the growth and nurturing of the Artificial Intelligence space.”
The prime difficulty is, companies like Google and Microsoft, as well as Amazon, already stand out as possible titanic competitors who also work tirelessly towards helping the public understand the various, everyday use cases of AI. Even so, as we move closer and closer to an age in which it seems likely that robots will play a progressively larger role in our lives, it also could be true that there will be plenty of room for a large group of companies to succeed in AI.
Whatever happens, it will be interesting to see how the chips fall for Koios, because if such an idea does succeed, then we just might be a whole lot more closer to an AI industry that’s seen as beneficial for everyone.
