What are the Best AI Podcasts?

By now, you’ve gotten some recommendations on what blogs, online magazines, and personalities to follow to get a balanced understanding of all things AI. In our past posts, however, we’ve left out one important media category. Podcasts are not to be ignored. For some of the best in the AI space, check out our list below.

  1. Cognilytica’s AI Today Podcast– Cognilytica is not the most well-known entity on this list and yet, their podcast might be the most unique here due to its’ overall theme. In the AI industry, most podcasts focus on either educating businesses individuals on the meaning of important AI-related concepts or on the research that is being done to put the space forward. AI Today, on the other hand, takes things a step further by essentially presenting each episode as a case study of a company actively using AI in a certain way in its’ operations. From mining to fashion and beyond, just about every industry is covered. Furthermore, they also delve into topics that they consider to be consistent themes that businesses encounter in their efforts to understand and adopt AI. Because of all of this, with the AI Today podcast, you’ll get a well-rounded experience that is tailored to any sort of business professional.
  2. SingularityNET’s AGI Podcast– What other news source do you know of that structures all of its’ content around the theme of Artificial General Intelligence? Other, similar examples exist and yet, most of them are highly technical in how they deliver their content. That’s not to say SingularityNET’s work isn’t highly technical in its’ own right. The sheer weight of the institutions and individuals behind their efforts has created one of the most ambitious project’s ever. SingularityNET aims to be the first Artificial General Intelligence system in existence, down the road. Their AGI Podcast helps to illustrate how this could come about since it focuses almost solely on the work that is being done to bring about the age of Artificial General Intelligence. Precisely because of this, this podcast bears mentioning. As with any research area, it is important to understand the view of its’ critics as well as its’ proponents to grasp the progress that is being made. If you follow the AGI podcast, then you follow the view of the proponents, which goes well with the next resource below that sits more in the middle on this issue and others like it.
  3. The Business Lab Podcast from the MIT Technology Review– No AI list is complete without mentioning the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in some capacity. Chief amongst their podcasts in this context is “The Business Lab Podcast,” which is meant to focus on how new technologies, including AI, are being applied in practice by companies today. Simultaneously, they also mention what the MIT Technology Review’s staff consider to be compelling areas of AI research, which include cutting through the hype to the actual significance of Deep Learning in practice, for example. In considering the Business Lab Podcast alongside the other two we have already mentioned, you have a powerful cross-section of AI’s current use cases, research areas, and possible future directions.
  4. Concerning AI– When speaking of future directions, Concerning AI jumps to the forefront because of its’ unique attempt to predict what an AI-driven world might look like. The hosts wax esoteric each episode on just about every issue that is is possible to think of on the subject of AI and its’ growing acceptance in our lives. While this means that nearly all of their arguments are mostly hypothetical, they are important to consider because of the many different directions that the hosts address the possible issues that AI could create. Imagine content from Nick Bostrom’s “Superintelligence,” presented in a highly accessible form.
  5. The AI Podcast– The AI Podcast is similar to AI Today, especially due to its’ major theme. Both are trying to laser-focus on the actual ways that AI is being put to use in real companies today. Both also attempt to educate non-AI professionals on just about every AI-related concept. The chief differentiator that this particular podcast possesses is that it is hosted by NVIDIA, which is currently one of the most powerful AI companies at the production level. Because of this, they appear to be able to attract some of the industry’s most well-known experts. Business professionals of all types will likely enjoy this podcast, though it becomes even more useful when listened to in connection with another that focuses more heavily on specific case studies of AI implementations, like AI Today.

In the end, this list is just the tip of the iceberg. For more recommendations and the chance to deep dive into any of our suggested sources above, check out our resources below, with the suggested rule of thumb that mixing content based on use cases with content that aims to educate the average individual is usually the best approach to doing so. Finally, if you have any recommendations on podcasts that could be added to this list or introduced in our next installment, let us know in the comments section.
